Chief Network Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and recommend on-going changes to processes and operations that positively impact the Division
• Design and implement real-time monitoring systems ensuring systems availability meets divisional & organizational goals
• Be well versed in network segmentation, virtualization, switching, routing, VoIP, WAN’s, SAN’s, Campus Wi-Fi
• Extensive experience in VMware hosts and VM’s, V-motion, Fault Tolerance, High Availability including designing and planning the configurations of new servers, SANS and VoIP products into the existing LAN
• Delegate actions, projects and work assignments to ensure that strategic plan is implemented, and divisional needs are addressed
• Collaborate and work with the Chief Network Engineer (Security) to ensure both Engineers overlap and provide coverage for each other. Make recommendations ensuring the safeguards (both physical and electronic) are in place to provide for the security and confidentiality of data and data systems; and make suggestions to improve GRC (Governance, Risk, Compliance) of the IT systems and supported services
• Monitor the network utilizing network traffic management software and server security to protect systems internal and external foreseeable threats; and monitor all security systems to pro-actively prevent, detect and respond to all security events
• Research opportunities and make appropriate recommendations for hardware and software used in cyber defense and detection
• Identify the needs of develop solutions and options that mitigates risks, creates efficiency and enhances productivity and customer service
• Assesses how changing business processes and operations may impact current information systems platform & design and implement continuous strategies to ensure that is able to recover quickly from foreseeable disasters ensuring sufficient backup and recovery procedures
• Experience with fibre optic WANS and network backbones with ethernet handoffs
• Provide training on new initiatives or systems staff

Required:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Management from an accredited institution and 10 years’ working experience in network operations with sufficient experience with direct responsibility for network operations.
• Proven skills and working knowledge in all of the following disciplines: Microsoft Windows Server, Win 10 Desktop, Microsoft Exchange – in a clustered environment, and Office 365 tools; Active Directory; DNS; DHCP, CISCO Routers, HPE Switches, WAF Technology, NG firewall clusters; all VMware facets; Server Security Certificate Management, Help Desk Management, Patch Management and Load Balancing concepts; etc.
• Network Infrastructure Certifications are an asset, i.e. (MCSE, ITIL, CCNA, CCNP)
• Sound knowledge of backup strategies, disaster recovery scenarios and business continuity plans.
