As part of its next phase of growth and thought leadership, the firm is establishing a new global Research & Insight Division to drive innovation, market intelligence, and future-focused design thinking across the built environment.
In line with this strategic initiative, they are seeking a Director, Head of Research to establish and lead this new division. Conceived as a blue-sky think tank, the research function will explore the future of architecture, interior design, workplace strategy, cities, and AI-driven transformation in design. While the role offers flexibility on global location initially, the long-term vision is for the division to be anchored in Bangalore, where the research capability will scale over time.
As such, they are looking for a visionary and strategically minded research leader to take ownership of building this new capability from the ground up. In this high-impact role, you will define the research agenda, develop industry-leading insights, and translate global trends into strategic intelligence that informs both internal design teams and client advisory work. You will explore emerging forces shaping the built environment, from workplace evolution and urban development to the integration of AI and data-driven design processes.
You will play a pivotal role in positioning the consultancy as a thought leader within the global design industry, producing research publications, white papers, and market insights that influence how organisations approach space, design, and the future of work. A key part of the role will be building partnerships with academic institutions, technology companies, and industry bodies, while representing the firm through conferences, publications, and industry forums.
The successful candidate will be a recognised thinker within the built environment, workplace strategy, design research, or innovation space, with a strong track record of producing strategic insights and industry research. You will bring a deep understanding of the forces shaping architecture and design, combined with curiosity around emerging technologies, AI, and the future of spatial experience.
Strong communication and storytelling skills will be essential, alongside the ability to translate complex research into compelling narratives that influence both clients and design teams. Experience collaborating with global organisations, multidisciplinary teams, or academic networks will be highly advantageous.
