As a Reinsurance Accountant, you will be pivotal in managing and overseeing reinsurance accounting processes for clients. Your expertise in financial reporting, auditing, and regulatory compliance will contribute to the accuracy and integrity of our reinsurance portfolio. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, liaise with external stakeholders, and ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting:

• Prepare and analyze financial statements related to reinsurance activities.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and company policies.
• Generate comprehensive reports for management, highlighting key financial metrics and trends.

2. Reinsurance Accounting:

• Manage the accounting for reinsurance contracts, including ceded and assumed treaties.
• Perform detailed analysis of reinsurance agreements to ensure accurate accounting treatment.
• Reconcile reinsurance balances and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

3. Audit and Assurance:

• Leverage your Big 4 experience to enhance audit processes and internal controls.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits related to reinsurance transactions.
• Implement recommendations from audit findings to strengthen financial controls.

4. Technical Expertise:

• Stay abreast of industry developments, accounting pronouncements, and regulatory changes affecting reinsurance accounting.
• Apply your technical knowledge to assess the impact of new standards and ensure compliance.

5. Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with underwriters, actuaries, and other departments to gather information and insights relevant to reinsurance accounting.
• Communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders effectively.

6. Risk Management:

• Evaluate and mitigate financial risks associated with reinsurance transactions.
• Provide insights and recommendations to senior management regarding risk exposure and risk management strategies.

7. Continuous Improvement:

• Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy in reinsurance accounting processes.
• Implement best practices and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Internationally recognized accounting designation (i.e. CPA, CA, ACA, or ACCA)

Experience: Significant experience (preferably with Big 4 accounting firms) in accounting, financial reporting, and audit. Ideally, has experince in insurance, reinsurance, or financial services.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and concisely.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
