Our client is  a leading international shipyard group with operations across Asia, delivering world-class solutions in shipbuilding, conversion, repair and offshore engineering. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and innovation, the business is now entering a new phase of growth and diversification with strategic projects and investments across multiple markets. With a strong pipeline and continued expansion across both newbuild and conversion works, they are seeking a commercially aware and technically strong Assistant Manager – Newbuilding & Special Projects to support delivery and financial control of key marine programmes.

In this role, you will support full lifecycle execution of shipbuilding and special projects from contract award through to vessel delivery. Working across engineering, production, procurement, QA/QC, commissioning, HSE, and finance, you will help ensure projects are delivered in line with technical specifications, regulatory standards, approved schedules, and contractual milestones.

A core focus will be monitoring construction progress, managing technical queries and design changes, coordinating class and owner inspections, and maintaining strong commercial oversight. You will prepare and validate milestone and progress-based invoices, track payment schedules and retention, monitor budgets and cost exposure, and support variation and change order assessments—ensuring positive cash flow and controlled project performance.

The successful candidate will hold a degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, with 8–10 years’ experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, or marine/offshore project environments. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of ship construction workflows, contract terms, cost control, and invoicing processes, supported by proficiency in MS Office and project planning tools such as MS Project or Primavera.

Highly organised and detail-driven, you will be confident coordinating owners, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and manage commercial documentation accurately.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing shipyard environment in a high-impact role that combines technical coordination with commercial accountability, contributing directly to successful vessel delivery and strong project financial performance.
