Our client is a leading international shipyard group with operations across Asia, delivering world-class solutions in shipbuilding, conversion, repair and offshore engineering. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and innovation, the business is now entering a new phase of growth and diversification with strategic projects and investments across multiple markets.

In line with this growth, they are seeking a highly experienced Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal guidance and support across their shipyard trade developments, overseas investments and operational activities. This is a senior, high-impact role where you will advise on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters, manage complex transactions and ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

You will take ownership of all legal aspects relating to the group’s operations, from drafting, reviewing and negotiating high-value contracts such as new building, conversion, repair, recycling and fabrication agreements to advising on joint ventures, leases and supplier or vendor arrangements. You will also oversee legal support for overseas investments, liaise with external parties and counsel, and manage regulatory matters including licence applications and corporate secretarial coordination.

The successful candidate will be a Singapore or UK qualified lawyer with at least 10 years’ PQE, ideally with prior experience in the maritime, shipyard or heavy engineering sectors. You will possess strong commercial acumen, advanced drafting and negotiation skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams. A broad working knowledge of commercial law, compliance and relevant sector regulations will be essential.
