Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with chronic pain conditions, including headaches, back pain, neck pain, and other persistent pain disorders.
  • Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans using both medical and interventional pain management techniques.
  • Perform interventional procedures such as steroid injections, nerve blocks, neurotoxin injections, and radiofrequency ablation, where appropriate.
  • Evaluate patients for treatment suitability, monitor progress, and adjust care plans to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation using electronic medical record systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Educate patients on their diagnosis, treatment options, and expected outcomes while ensuring a safe and positive patient experience.
  • Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, continuing medical education, and the ongoing development of pain management services.

Requirements

  • Medical degree with specialist training in Pain Management, Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurology, or a related specialty with a focus on pain medicine.
  • Current medical licensure or eligibility for licensure in the Cayman Islands.
  • Proven experience managing chronic pain conditions, including headaches, back pain, neck pain, and complex persistent pain syndromes.
  • Strong expertise in interventional pain management, including steroid injections, nerve blocks, neurotoxin injections, and radiofrequency ablation.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent clinical assessment, diagnostic, communication, and patient management skills.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous professional development, and high standards of patient care.

CPAM Registration Eligibility

Candidates should be eligible for registration with the Cayman Islands Council for Professions Allied with Medicine (CPAM). Typical qualifications that may be eligible for registration (subject to CPAM approval) include:

  • Cayman Islands: Fully licensed medical practitioner with specialist registration in Pain Management or a related specialty.
  • United Kingdom: GMC registered medical practitioner with specialist training in Pain Medicine or a related specialty.
  • Ireland: Irish Medical Council registered medical practitioner with specialist training in Pain Medicine.
  • United States: Board-certified or board-eligible Pain Management Physician with an active state medical license.
  • Canada: Licensed physician with specialist certification in Pain Medicine or a related specialty.
  • Australia: AHPRA registered medical practitioner with specialist recognition in Pain Medicine.
  • New Zealand: Medical Council of New Zealand registered medical practitioner with vocational registration in Pain Medicine.

  • South Africa: HPCSA registered medical practitioner with specialist training in Pain Medicine.
