Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based therapy for couples, families, and individuals experiencing relationship, emotional, and behavioral concerns.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Deliver individual, couples, and family therapy using appropriate therapeutic approaches.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions and psychoeducational programs as needed.
  • Collaborate with external healthcare providers to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, professional development, and quality improvement
    initiatives.
  • Support community outreach and mental health education programs.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Counselling,
  • Social Work, or a related mental health field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-licensure clinical experience.
  • Fully licensed for independent practice (no associate, provisional, or supervised status).
  • Eligible for registration with the Cayman Islands Council for Professions Allied with Medicine
    (CPAM).
  • Experience providing couples, marriage, and family therapy.
  • Training or experience in trauma-informed care (e.g., EMDR) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT, EFT, Gottman Method,
    or similar.

CPAM Registration Eligibility

Candidates should be eligible for registration with the Cayman Islands Council for Professions Allied with Medicine (CPAM). Qualifications commonly considered eligible (subject to CPAM approval) include:

  • United States: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PhD/PsyD), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC/LPCC/LCPC) with independent practice authority.
  • United Kingdom: HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist or a UKCP/BABCP accredited psychotherapist.
  • Canada: Registered Psychologist, Registered Clinical Social Worker, or Registered Psychotherapist with independent practice authority.
  • Australia: AHPRA Registered Psychologist or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.
  • South Africa: HPCSA Registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, or Registered Clinical Social Worker.
  • New Zealand: Registered Psychologist or an independently registered Psychotherapist.
  • Ireland: Chartered/Registered Psychologist or an accredited Psychotherapist.
  • Jamaica: Registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker, or Marriage and Family Therapist recognized by the relevant regulatory authority.
