Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders in children and/or adults.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans based on each patient’s communication
    and functional goals.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions to improve speech, language, communication,
    cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities.
  • Monitor patient progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, physicians, psychologists, occupational therapists,
    educators, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with
    professional and regulatory standards.
  • Provide education and training to families and caregivers to support communication
    development and carryover of therapy strategies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, continuing professional development, and quality
    improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Speech and Language Therapy, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ post-licensure clinical experience.
  • Fully licensed for independent practice (no associate, provisional, or supervised status).
  • Eligible for registration with the Cayman Islands Council for Professions Allied with Medicine
    (CPAM).
  • Experience assessing and treating speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in
    pediatric, adult, or mixed caseloads.
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills.

CPAM Registration Eligibility

Candidates should be eligible for registration with the Cayman Islands Council for Professions Allied with Medicine (CPAM). Qualifications commonly considered eligible (subject to CPAM approval) include:

  • United States: Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP) with an active state licence where required.
  • United Kingdom: HCPC Registered Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Canada: Registered Speech-Language Pathologist licensed by the applicable provincial regulatory body.
  • Australia: Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) with Speech Pathology Australia.
  • South Africa: HPCSA Registered Speech-Language Therapist.
  • New Zealand: Registered Speech-Language Therapist with the New Zealand Speech-language Therapists’ Association (NZSTA).
  • Ireland: CORU Registered Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Jamaica: Speech-Language Therapist recognized by the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine (CPSM) Jamaica or another recognized regulatory authority.
