Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnose mental health conditions, and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide medication management, monitor treatment outcomes, and adjust care plans as
    needed.
  • Collaborate with psychologists, therapists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to
    deliver coordinated patient care.
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests to support clinical decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with
    professional and regulatory standards.
  • Refer patients to hospitals or other specialist services when clinically appropriate.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing
    professional development.
  • Support mental health education, community outreach, and the ongoing development of
    psychiatric services.

Requirements

  • Medical degree with specialist training in Psychiatry.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ post-licensure experience as a practicing Psychiatrist.
  • Fully licensed for independent practice (no associate, provisional, or supervised status).
  • Eligible for registration with the Cayman Islands Council for Professions Allied with Medicine
    (CPAM).
  • Experience providing psychiatric care for adolescents and adults.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, medication management, communication, and
    documentation skills.

CPAM Registration Eligibility

Candidates should be eligible for registration with the Cayman Islands Council for Professions Allied with Medicine (CPAM). Qualifications commonly considered eligible (subject to CPAM approval) include:

  • United States: Board-certified or board-eligible Psychiatrist holding an active state medical licence.
  • United Kingdom: General Medical Council (GMC) registered medical practitioner with specialist registration in Psychiatry.
  • Canada: Licensed physician with certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Australia: AHPRA registered medical practitioner recognized as a specialist Psychiatrist.
  • South Africa: Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) registered Psychiatrist.
  • New Zealand: Medical Council of New Zealand registered Psychiatrist with vocational scope in Psychiatry.
  • Ireland: Irish Medical Council registered medical practitioner with specialist registration in Psychiatry.
  • Jamaica: Medical Council of Jamaica registered physician with specialist training and independent practice in Psychiatry.
