Responsibilities

  • Assess, evaluate, and treat adults with physical, neurological, cognitive, or functional impairments affecting daily living and independence.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve functional abilities,
    mobility, and participation in everyday activities.
  • Provide evidence-based interventions, including activities of daily living (ADL) training, upper
    limb rehabilitation, cognitive rehabilitation, adaptive equipment recommendations, and
    patient education.
  • Monitor patient progress, reassess outcomes, and modify treatment plans to maximize
    functional independence.
  • Collaborate with physicians, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists,
    and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with
    professional and regulatory standards.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on strategies to support recovery, safety, and long-term independence.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ post-licensure clinical experience in adult occupational therapy.
  • Fully licensed for independent practice (no associate, provisional, or supervised status).
  • Eligible for registration with the Cayman Islands Council for Professions Allied with Medicine
    (CPAM).
  • Experience managing adult patients with neurological, musculoskeletal, orthopedic, or functional
    rehabilitation needs.
  • Strong clinical assessment, rehabilitation planning, communication, and documentation skills.

CPAM Registration Eligibility

Candidates should be eligible for registration with the Cayman Islands Council for Professions Allied with Medicine (CPAM). Qualifications commonly considered eligible (subject to CPAM approval) include:

  • United States: Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) holding an active state licence.
  • United Kingdom: HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Canada: Registered Occupational Therapist licensed by the applicable provincial regulatory body.
  • Australia: AHPRA Registered Occupational Therapist.
  • South Africa: HPCSA Registered Occupational Therapist.
  • New Zealand: Registered Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand.
  • Ireland: CORU Registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Jamaica: Occupational Therapist registered with the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine (CPSM) Jamaica.
