Responsibilities

  • Assess, evaluate, and treat infants, children, and adolescents with developmental, neurological, sensory, physical, or functional challenges.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve fine motor skills, sensory
    processing, self-care, play, school participation, and independence in daily activities.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions, including sensory integration, fine motor
    development, activities of daily living (ADL) training, and caregiver education.
  • Monitor patient progress, reassess outcomes, and modify treatment plans to achieve
    developmental and functional goals.
  • Collaborate with families, physicians, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists,
    psychologists, educators, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with
    professional and regulatory standards.
  • Provide education and support to parents, caregivers, and teachers to promote skill
    development and functional independence.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing
    professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ post-licensure clinical experience in pediatric occupational therapy.
  • Fully licensed for independent practice (no associate, provisional, or supervised status).
  • Eligible for registration with the Cayman Islands Council for Professions Allied with Medicine
    (CPAM).
  • Experience working with children with developmental delays, neurological conditions, sensory
    processing disorders, autism spectrum disorder, or other pediatric diagnoses.
  • Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, communication, and documentation skills

CPAM Registration Eligibility

Candidates should be eligible for registration with the Cayman Islands Council for Professions Allied with Medicine (CPAM). Qualifications commonly considered eligible (subject to CPAM approval) include:

  • United States: Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) holding an active state licence.
  • United Kingdom: HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Canada: Registered Occupational Therapist licensed by the applicable provincial regulatory body.
  • Australia: AHPRA Registered Occupational Therapist.
  • South Africa: HPCSA Registered Occupational Therapist.
  • New Zealand: Registered Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand.
  • Ireland: CORU Registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Jamaica: Occupational Therapist registered with the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine (CPSM) Jamaica.
